McKays new glasses!!

We ( the kids and I) are all doing well with out Robert being home.  He comes home in 3 more weeks. Yea!   Lauren is getting use to having school every day, all day long.  She loves Wednesdays because they get out at 12:30.     Caitlin is enjoying 5th grade and really likes her teacher.   Caitlin has been a huge help while Robert is away from us.

Here are some pictures of McKay with his glasses.

For the first couple of days McKay had his glasses, it was a huge struggle to get them on. But once they were on it was fine.   Now, he willingly helps me put them on him and take them off for cleaning and put them back on.   I think he can see so much better with them.  Last weekend we drove to mom and dads house and he was asking me what things were out the window.  I honestly don't think he could see the objects before.
This morning I was down stairs doing laundry and Lauren comes and tells me McKay had brought in a big pile of grass.
He told me it was a nest.   After he and I cleaned it up, I got out of Lauren that she had told him the idea to bring it in the house.   That sounds like my Lauren!
I will post more pictures this week.  We are doing an activity with mom and Grandma Woff later this week.

Mckays birthday and Camping

This month has been pretty busy for us.   McKay turned 3, we as a family went to Park City and we also went camping for the first time and last time this year (no thanks to the very wet summer (june) we had).  McKay got a new bike for his birthday and loves it.  He still hasn't mastered the peddling thing down yet but is working very hard at it.

We went camping last weekend and celebrated Roberts birthday.  The old man turned 34!!!   Caitlin had a blast becoming better on her motorcycle and Lauren was very happy to have the small 4-wheeler to her self (minus Mom or Dad behind her teaching her the ways of the dirt road).

I am so glad the kids have never fought Robert or I to put their helmets on.  They know they don't even look at the ATV's with out their helmets and gloves on.
The wildflowers were beautiful and in full bloom since the snow just melted off of the ground about a month ago.   Lauren picked some wild flowers and brought them to me the first day we were there.
                                                Our home on wheels!!!

And we brought our two best friends.  Copper and Dawson love to go camping but most of all, love to run with the four wheelers.

Early Saturday morning this is what we woke up to.  I heard the cows mooing but thought they were farther away than 10 feet in front of our trailer.  The kids unfortunately woke up with the cows and thought it was funny to see the cows so close to us.  McKay talked about it all day long.

And....Lauren and Caitlin started their first day at school.  Caitlin is in 5th grade and Lauren is in 1st.
I walked Caitlin to her class first and then Lauren.  McKay was in the stroller( we walked to school).  When he and I were leaving Laurens class he turned to me and in a very sat voice he said," Nana" ( which means Lauren in his language).  I told him Lauren is staying at school and he responded by saying," Nana go home."   Its so sad to be the youngest and be left behind.

Goin' to the Fair

Robert has been working a lot lately, so me and the kids decided to go to the county fair.   Thankfully we got there early enough in the morning. There wasn't tons of people and it wasn't too hot.

While Lauren and McKay were finishing the bounce house,  Caitlin decided to go on a ride that I don't care for.

About a minute into the ride,  I thought she was going to loose her breakfast but she hung on and ended the ride with a smile.

My less adventurous child, Lauren, stuck to the little rides with her brother.   When she got off, Lauren commented that it went to slow!!  I didn't think she would want it to go any faster.  I guess she is growing up!

And the girls got their faces painted.

McKay's crazy eye and the rodeo

Ok, Ok,   I have finally updated the blog!!!!

Dave,  you wanted to see McKay's eyes after his surgery that was done on July 11.
McKays left eye was really red, bloody for a week and swollen too.   He is looking alot better now and doing well.

We took the kids to the Days of 47 rodeo last night.   Both Caitlin and Lauren wanted to bring home a horse from the rodeo.  The announcer commented that some of the horses are worth 100 thousand due to the time of training  and family genealogy.   Sorry girls,  I don't think we buy one of those horses unless we sell our house!!   They were sure fun to watch!!

We walked by this huge bull and thought it would be fun to get all the kids on it for a picture.   At first they were all for it.  So we put Lauren on it first,( with the help of the ladder).
Lauren was great all by her self then got scared when Caitlin and McKay were put on,  hence Lauren in front by the horns!!
When McKay was taken off the bull,  he turned to me and said in a very clear excited voice,"  that was cool!!"   100 percent boy and ready for excitement!!
We had a very fun night at the rodeo!

Lauren graduates from Kindergarten!!

We are so proud of our beautiful Lauren.  She finished kindergarten on Friday.  She has grown  and learned so much during this past year.

Lauren:  always in pink and in a dress!!
Now on to first grade!!   Lauren was telling me she can't believe she starts first grade on Monday.   I had to tell her she has no school until August.  I think she was a little disappointed.

easter 2011

Sorry I have taken way to long to put anything on the blog.  So here are some late Easter pictures.

Robert and I took the kids to a park to do our own Easter egg hunt this year.   Tooele has a good Easter egg hunt at Deseret Peak Complex but there is always a thousand people there and you have to push and shove other kids to get anything so we decided to do our own smaller version.    McKay thought getting the eggs was the coolest thing!!

And we had spring break from school.  Only the whole week it rained.   On a what I thought was going to be a good morning, I decided to pack the kids up and go to Wheeler Farm.  And it did sprinkle on our "field trip"  but we did have a good time.

Wheeler farm as bags of duck food you can give them.  I thought "great!"   that was until some of the geese came around us and fought off the ducks.   This picture was before that happened.

This goose bit Lauren on her leg!!   I guess he thought she was going to take his food or she just got too close to him during his feeding time!!

McKay thought this cow was pretty cool.  He kept mooing at it and petting the cow through the fence.

And the baby pigs stole the show.

Spouse Ride

Not very often now days,  Roberts work has a spouse flight where they invite spouses onto a refueling practice mission.   A couple weeks ago I was able to go with Robert and watch two B-52 bombers be refueled. Here is the first B-52 lining up to be refueled.

It was so fun watching this happen.   All of us wife's were in aah,  as most of the husbands were use to seeing this be done.
Here is the second plane waiting for its turn to refuel.   We were also able to go in to the flight deck ( cockpit of the plane)  and listen to the pilots of the other planes around us talking.  Until we got in to middle of Wyoming we could hear the radio tower at salt lake airport.
Here is the second B-52 refueling.   We flew over South Dakota where it finally cleared out and we could see land.   And one last picture of the McKay and Lauren to make the grandparents happy!!!    McKay has learned how to open his toy battery compartments with a screw driver and is showing us his tallent.

Cruise'n January 2011

  • Robert and I enjoyed a cruise to the southern Caribbean in January.  We had a great time relaxing on the beach and eating good food on the ship.    This first picture was taken in on the small island of Catalina, Dominica Republic.  That is our ship behind us!    Robert and his brother were able to try their luck on the Flowrider in Grand Turk.  They body surfed and surfed standing up.

Robert and I ate at this amazing Mexican restaurant  in Aruba.

This was our last port.  The very industrilized country of Curacao.( pronounced Cur-a-sow)   This inland use to be owned by the Netherlands. It was a slave training place for the people to bring slaves here. the slaves would stay here for two years before they sold them to the people in the Netherlands.   They learned they could get more money for the slaves if they trained them how to work.

Our last sun set aboard the Carnival Miracle!!

On Sunday after we boarded off the ship we went to the Florida Everglades.  Here is our alligator friend that followed our fan boat for about 30 minutes.

This is a bad picture.  I thought I choose a different one.  ( sorry, I'm still learning)   if you look closely there is an alligator sunning himself.   After we went to this alligator rescue and saw 13 foot alligators.   kind of fun.  Well I hope I didn't bore you too much.   i'm just trying to get use to this and use it as my families journal.

One more picture the kids wanted me to put on.  At the alligator rescue I had the chance to hold a 5 month old alligator and i jumped at the opportunity!
